Quilogy's website was in dire need of an update. Ben and I came up with a few different concepts.

One
Tired of corporate buzzwords that meant nothing and obfuscated most aspects of daily business, the first concept was simply one of complete truth and honesty, no BS. Click the following links to see our first concept for Quilogy's website:

The second concept was never fully visually realized and involved the company's tag line: "The Art and Science of Business." The tag line had not previously been used in any meaningful way to brand the company, especially exploring the notions of art and science as they apply to business.

My concept centered around the Fibonacci number.

In short, the Fibonacci number is a mathematical term that describes a sequence where each number in the sequence is the sum of its two preceding numbers (i.e. – 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34, etc.).

However, the cold, hard mathematical fact of the sequence that lent the notion of precision, order, and accuracy to the company was not that alone.

Fibonacci numbers are also found in a great number of biological settings. The manner in which trees branch; the spiral of a Nautilus shell; the curve of waves in water; the number of seeds in a sunflower; the reproduction of bees; the uncurling fern and arrangement of a pine cone; and the most common number of petals a flower has – all follow this sequence.

Furthermore, the Fibonacci sequence may be more commonly known as the Golden Rule within the art world. Architecture, paintings, and music all can employ the Golden Rule. For example, the “Golden Rectangle” uses the ratio of any two subsequent numbers in sequence (Phi = 1.61) is said to have the most visually pleasing dimensions; variations of which can be found in many pieces of Renaissance art.

So how does it work as a concept?

As a result of the above three associations with the Fibonacci sequence, this concept neatly wraps in all elements of Quilogy’s tag line, the Art and Science of Business. The science portion is represented by FN’s use in mathematics and scientific inquiry; these are clearly defined, deliberate, and immutable fact that just plain work as a means of identifying patterns or solving various problems. The art portion is represented by FN’s abundance in nature and art; though scientific in basis, these numbers give spark and meaning to indescribable beauty. The both of these concepts come together to create something that is perfectly right, as it is created by scientific fact and organic art.

This concept was to help rebrand the website and have a trickle down effect throughout the company, defining it as a younger, more holistic company then the boring, outmoded businesses of yesteryear, as per the instructions of management. Unfortunately, before we could invest time in sketches and initial designs to submit, this concept was deemed too heady and was set aside.
